Media Release | New programs to teach NT CEOs and executives how to rebound and grow in a post-pandemic world

August 26, 2020

Delivered by the Australian Centre for Business Growth

The Australian Centre for Business Growth and Darwin Innovation Hub have today launched the third round of the Business Acceleration Program, which has shifted focus to teaching CEOs/MDs and executives how to rebound and specifically deal with the impacts of the pandemic; providing support and teaching these leaders how to grow their companies.

The Business Acceleration Program has been designed to provide CEOs/MDs and executives of small and medium companies with the knowledge and skills they need to bounce back, re-focus, lead, manage and accelerate company growth. The success of the program over the past two years has seen 64 NT companies take part.

Commencing next month, the Business Acceleration Program includes:

  • A fully subsidised one day Assessment Clinic designed for CEOs/MDs of companies with 4-199 employees
  • A fully subsidised six-month Growth Ramp program designed for CEOs/MDs of companies with 4-11 employees
  • A partially subsidised Growth Modules program designed for CEOs/MDs and executives of companies with 12-199 employees
  • A Growth Workshop on Friday 28th August for anyone who wants to learn about company growth.

ANZ Chair in Business Growth and Director of the Australian Centre for Business Growth, Dr Jana Matthews, said that the current business landscape has provided new challenges and opportunities for companies.

“We help CEOs/MDs and executives understand what these opportunities are, how to rebound, address challenges and prepare for future growth. Different mindsets, knowledge and skills are required to lead during uncertain times, which is why we’ve designed several programs for CEOs and executives of companies at different stages of growth. It’s about learning what needs to be done, in what timeframe and order to rebound and continue moving forward.” Dr Matthews said.

Kamil Ali, former program participant and Director of maintenance services business, Sterling NT, said that he would highly recommend the Business Acceleration Program to other Territory companies.

“Nobody writes a rule book when you start and grow a business, but this program gave us a really clear outline and the framework we needed to grow; saving us time, money, and stopping us from making mistakes along the way.”

Applications for the Business Acceleration Program are open to CEOs/MDs of NT based companies with 4–199 employees. The program is ideal for CEO/MDs who want to learn how to grow, are willing to share data, information and lessons learned with other CEOs and executives, and complete prep work. There are a limited number of subsidised places available for each program. Learn more about the Program and apply now.

About the Australian Centre for Business Growth:

Established in June 2014, the Australian Centre for Business Growth at the University of South Australia (part of UniSA Business) provides CEOs/MDs and executives of small companies (5–19 employees) and medium companies (20–199 employees) with the knowledge and skills they need to develop as leaders, accelerate company growth and compete in a global marketplace. The Centre’s programs were designed, developed and are delivered by Growth Experts who have started, grown and exited companies and understand the process of company growth. The programs use diagnostics, expert presentations, facilitated group discussions, peer-to-peer learning, and action planning to enable CEOs and executive attendees to learn how to rebound, then lead and manage company growth.
